PostSubject: Far from home...   Far from home... EmptyThu Oct 09, 2008 7:46 pm

Heiroglyph Boy (or Hyro) walked through the busy streets of London. As usual, he was noticed by no one. He was so ordinary that no one ever looked at him twice. It came in handy for pickpocketing and steeling. And that was exactly what he was going to do. He was only 8, but he had had lots of practice on gormless tourists as they visited the temple of Luxor where he had spent the last 6 years of his life. Now it was different. You were watched everywhere you went by policemen and security cameras. This called for extra precaution.
He spotted a target. A rich looking man with a siut on. Hyro could tell by the bulge in his jacket pocket that that was where he had put his wallet. Bad choice of hiding place. The Egyptian boy moved towards him, acting as normal as posible. He stroled by a cafe and grabbed a packet of mayonnaise from a table, ripping it open.
Then, walking behind the man, he reached up and skwirted the sauce onto his target's shoulder. Then, throwing away the now empty packet, he tapped the man on the shoulder.
"Sir," he said in his Arabic accent, "look, sir."
The Man turned round. He was short and had a bad tempered face. Seeing the sauce on his shoulder, he took off his jacket while cursing every bird known to mankind. Hyro pulled a paper napkin out of his pocket (which he had prepared exactly for this purpose) and handed it to the man, while slipping his hand into the jacket pocket. The man took the napkin without a word of thanks, and started wiping the mayonnaise off his siut shoulder.
He hadn't even noticed that Hyro had slunk away, a wallet full of cash cluched tight in his grubby hands.

There was a half demon hiding in the shadows, watching this.

Hyro made his way to a dark side street. No one had seen him. No one ever did. He could still hear the man in the suit cursing and swearing. Soon, he would be cursing something else than birds. Hyro took a quick look in the wallet. There were a few pieces of paper he knew to be money and a couple of flat plastic things that were of no use to him. He through these away along with the now empty wallet and stuffed the paper into his pocket. Then he went to crouch behind a bin and after a while, feel asleep, lulled by the buzzing of traffic.

Hyro jumped back, woken and startled. He stared at the girl infront of him.
"Who you?" he said awkwardly in his accent, fear and surprise sounding in his voice.

"Go away," said Hyro.
Making sure that the cash was still safely in his pocket, he jumped and grabbed hold of the wall, climbing it with ease. The surface was rough but there were no hand or foot holds for Hyro to hold on to, but he was at the top in no time and onto the building's flat roof. The wind was blowing in his ears as he turned round to see if the girl had followed him.

Hyro jumped. How had she got there? She had been on the ground a second ago, and now she was infront of him! She had appeared out of thin air!
"What want?" Hyro backed away, "Want?" he asked, pulling out the chunk of cash from his pocket, waving it in her direction, "Have."

"Never seen him," replied Hyro truthfully. He could remember faces well and would have recognised that one instantly. Not many people looked like that. The man almost looked... non human.

Hyro was left standing on the rooftops, puzzled. How had the purple haired girl gotten onto the roof as fast as him? He was only eight, but he had never heard of anyone who could climb like him and never seen anyone with such a strange colour of hair. He turned round and started to climg down a wall to the noisy city below.

((hiya lol hope you don't mind my butting in))

Mistletoe walked down the crowded streets, brushing past a man who was fevereshly searching his jacket pockets. Ew. What was that on the shoulder? Bird poop? Hmm... She continued down, before stopping suddenly. Was that a boy on the roof-tops? How did he get up there? She made her way to him, bumping other people if they didn't get out of her way fast enough.
"Hey Audrey!" Mistletoe raised a hand to acknowledge the greeting - Audrey was her human name - but wasn't in the mood to socialise. She wanted to know more about this boy. So she pressed on.

She finally reached the place directly below where the boy was desending with surprising agility. If he kept on going, he would reach the ground directly in front of her.

Hyro rached the ground, and instantly know that something was wrong. he spun round to find a tall girl with black hair staring at him. He cowered against the wall like a small animal, saying a player in arabic to Ptah, the mother goddess who's raised him.

Mistletoe looked amused. Was she that scary? She felt like pulling out her pocket mirror (the only connection that she had to her family, that had belonged to her grandma) to check her make-up to see if that was why, but it wasn't the time.
"Hello?" She tried in english for, although she did know some arabic, she wasn't confident enough in her knowledge of the language to have a conversation with an 8-year-old-boy.

"I want to talk. You must be awfully good at climbing, Darling, to be able to climb up that wall." She said this matter-of-factly, trying to entice this boy to talk. He could turn out to be an interesting person...

Hyro looked into her eyes. She didnt seem to want to hurt him in any way. He'd gotten used to stearing clear of people, so he wasn"t good at comunicating, let alone in a different language. He eased a bit, but was still puzzled by what she'd called him. "Dalin"?
