PostSubject: Songs   Sat Feb 28, 2009 9:48 pm

This is a song i've written and added a tune to on the guitar. It's nothing special and half of it don't rhyme or anything, so i understand if it has no success whatsoever, lol
I wrote it over a few weeks, inspired by songs like "A piece of sky" by Barbra Streisand and "Diamonds are forever" by Shirley Bassey. The rest, i let my imagination run loose on.
It's abstract and slightly incomprehensible, but hey, maybe it reflects the author, lol
(i write '//' at the biginning and end of each chorus, just so you know)

'The Many Facets of Love'

Love is a fleeting shadow
Coming and going
But when it stays for good
It lodges in your heart
Like the roots of an old fig tree

Love is like the sky
Everlasting and oh so wide
But you only get a glimps of it
From your bedroom window

// But when you see the facets of love yourself
You finally understand what you've been looking for
Not knowing if it's Heaven or Hell
But there's no way out now
You've shaped the stone //

Love is like a stream
That rushes underneath your feet
In the forests of your mind
Glinting in the sunlight
Like the lost souls of dragon scales

Love is like a polished stone
Shimmering on my finger
Catching the moonbeams from the starlit sky above

// But when you see the facets of love yourself
You finally understand what you've been looking for
Not knowing if it's Heaven or Hell
But there's no way out now
You've shaped the stone //

The lightning hits now
And you fall to it's mercy
You cannot resist now
But you have no choice anymore
You're in love now
(whispered) You're in love now
You're in love now

// But when you see the facets of love yourself
You finally understand what you've been looking for
Not knowing if it's Heaven or Hell
But there's no way out now
You've shaped the stone //

You've shaped the stone
You've shaped the stone
You've shaped the stone

There you go. It's nothing special, i just jotted random things down and searched for rhyming words and stitched it all together. lol
Hope you like it anyway. I'd like you to add songs you've all written to this thread, so we can compare ideas and how we portray emotions into words. Stuff like that. lol

Flaxen, waxen
Knotted, polka-dotted
Twisted, beaded, braided
Powdered, flowered, and confettied
Bangled, tangled, spangled, and spaghettied!

That's-that's... Great, Alba. I read the whole thing. 3 times, to get the meaning of it correctly. But, tell me:
What is your secret?
I find this music, er, 'harmonic'? It's sort of like, poetry. Kinda. Well, maybe not. At least you have an optimistic writing, unlike mine D:
Oh well. Great job again, Alba.

Thanx, i wanted to describe the more abstract side of Love.
I donno, just felt like it.
The bit about only seeing a fraction of Love from your bedroom window means that if you don't try to get out and talk to the people you love, you'll never get anywhere.
Also, the bit about the stone ring on your finger means that you might have found Love (or think you have) it will always be mysterious to you, and you'll never know how to capture and keep it.
I donno, i'm quite pleased with that song (believe me, it's the best one i've written so far, all the others are absolute sh... rubbish lol)

Nice description. I guess I know how this feels, then...
Wait, do I? Oh well, i should stop putting attention on me.
Great work, I would like to see more!

I'm working on an other one, but it's not finished yet.
I'll put it up when i've finished it.

K. Don't rush it. I would like it to have the same quality as this song. And by quality, I mean it doesn't have to have the same quantity.

Here's another one. It's kinda along the same lines as the previous one, but i'm planning on asking my friend to try and add some piano to it.

Golden Apple

I used to think the stars
Were made of diamonds
I used to think my heart
Was made of stone

But now I know it’s just
A golden apple
That you picked from my tree
To make it grow

// And now I’m rising up
To the sky
I’m reaching out
I’ve learnt how to fly

I’m building my empire
Inside my soul
I’ve found the truth
I’ve searched for so long//

I never thought the sun
Could shine so bright
In the blue sky above
My little world

But now I know that this
Is what I’ve been waiting for
Now I love you
I give you my word

// //

Coz I thought
I’d never see the light
And I thought
It would never turn out right
And I know that they were just assumptions
And that none of this is true anymore!

// //

Searching between the trees
Searching between the trees
...

The last bit kinda fades out.
(ps, if any of you know a drummer, please tell me about it. thanx)

Hm. As great as before, Alba.
A drummer? I know a person who's in, er, maybe seconde or première that might be able to help you out, then. His name's Andrew. I could ask him, maybe.
If you want :/

Know him and i don't think he's free right now (he's got a band of his own anyway)
thanx for the help anyway.

I don't have any more songs right now, just scraps of things i jot down whenever i'm inspired. Ask Jenni, she's seen me do it countless times in P2 and Mr West's class lol!

Poor Mr. West. I have a test with him tomorrow.

At least you didn't forget to go to a VERY important rehersal to go over this song for an album about saving the planet! The recordings are in a month or even less!!!
I'm doomed... lol

Wait, I worked on a song on the 'saving the planet' stuff, for Mr. West. Could it be that?

Euh... probably. I'm singing a song Jenn wrote and Mr West added music to.
Jenn wrote a piano piece to it, but i'm still not sure if we'll use it or not. Anyway, i don't really see why i need to go to any more rehersals anyway, I know the song off by heart.
It's called "Stand on the Cliff Edge" and it's kinda depressing, but works. I like it.

I guess. Well, I'll see how the song is when the day comes. For now, good luck.
