Encantados are most commonly viewed as a type of freshwater dolphin or sea snake that has the ability to shapeshift into human form. It does not disappear while shapeshifting and frequently displays magical abilities, such as the power to control storms and haunt humans. They use various mind control techniques and can inflict illness, insanity, and even death.

Character background:
Erika was born and raised like any other child in a Encantado family, as a regular dolphin. Taught to fish and protect herself which came mostly naturally. When she was five though she was taught how to use her ability to transform into a human as well as minor hypnosis which was a bit harder but she still was able to master it. Sadly a year later while swimming to new waters a bad storm carried her away from her family and to a nearby port where she transformed into a human and hid in the nearest shelter, a old fishing shed. The next day an old fisherman walked to his shed where he found a young poorly dressed girl asleep. Of course he couldn’t just leave her there so he just took her to his home where he and his wife lived. They never regretted it even when they found out what she was. Of course luck wasn’t in store for this girl. When she was 15 pirates pillaged the port killing and burning anything that wasn’t of value to them but when they saw a teenage girl turn into an exotic looking dolphin they saw value so they scooped her up planning to sell her to the slave market or use her for labour for their own. How they underestimated her. As soon as they showed her to the captain the show began. One look at the captain and he was under her spell. He unsheathed his sword and stabbed himself right there. Erika approached the man calmly and unbound her hands by using the blade of the sword and removed the blade from the man’s chest. She held it up to the crew “If any of you have the guts come up here and challenge me.” One man ran up to her and she chopped off his left arm and let him bleed for a while before letting the crew care for him. After that the crew just listened and did as they were told mostly out of fear but some with respect. One day though when she was in a rage she burned down the whole ship and just wandered the docks nearby until she decided to shed her human apparel and loose herself to her animal side forevermore.
