Trapped and Hurt!

"Try thinking, for the first days of your life, that you're human, like your just like everyone else." Shadow said. "And then, soon after, being dragged in front of the Senate to find that you're going to be tried for living." She swallowed hard. "I didn't understand, and then my mother showed me a picture. It was horrible, like a deformed human, with red kin, thick black claws and four red eyes..."

"I think I know how you feel...I know that probably is hardly possible...but I do..." said Natalie quietly.

Shadow nodded, looking down at the ground.
"I knew, when I saw that picture, that I wasn't normal... and then people explained to me..."

"I can't have been easy...Shadow...I don't know where we are...do you?" Natalie said, looking at the white sky.

Shadow looked at Merlas for a second.
"We're near France"

"Really?" said Natalie, "like...near the Alps?"

Shadow nodded.
"Somewhere near Geneva..."

"Ah...I see," said Natalie quietly, looking up again.

Shadow sighed, sitting back. Merlas twitched her ears, listening to the two girls.

Natalie turned to the horse.

"Your horse saved me...and I saved your horse..." said Natalie, smiling slightly.

Shadow smiled at her friend.
"Thank you Natalie." She said, rubbing Merlas' nose.

"What are friends for..." said Natalie, smiling back.

"Merlas means a lot to me, you could say that she was one of the first friends I had." Shadow explained.

"I know..." said Natalie, "I don't know how...because you never have told me that before...but somehow...I think I knew that."

Shadow shrugged.
"Maybe you simply saw a stray memory or thought through the mind connection."

"Mmm...maybe," said Natalie, frowning uncertainly.

Shadow nodded.
"Who knows?"

Natalie shrugged and walked two paces, wincing as the pain from not moving her legs for ages creeping in.

"You ok?" Shadow asked, standing up.

"Yep...just getting my momentum back..." said Natalie, taking another step and wincing again.

Shadow nodded slowly, standing up to walk alongside her friend.

Natalie smiled slightly.

"Need any held...you know... to get Merlas up?" Natalie asked.

Shadow shook her head.
"I'll take Merlas back to my place and let her rest there. She should be ok to walk a short distance. I can teleport us." She said.

"Shall I come?" asked Natalie hopefully.

"If you wish." Shadow said.
