Toryn stood at the entrance to a park in the city of Arsinian, his hometown. The park had benches, swings, trees, and all manner of things you would expect to see in a park, but lacked one thing... People... The war had wiped away all life from this area of the world, and it now lay in darkness, and people avoided it like the plague. No one wanted to be reminded of the tragedy that befell their thought perfect world.
Just another way to show that even the greatest, can fall... Toryn thought to himself. He entered the park walking slowly, the gravel stones that made up the path crunched under his feet, bringing back memories of long ago, memoris of when he used to play here, swinging happily on the swings, thinking to himself for hours. Toryn heard footsteps behind him, and instantly his hand flew to the hilt of his blade, it was cold from being outside for so long.
"...Toryn..." Toryn instantly recognized the voice as his sister, and his hand fell back, hanging loosely. He relaxed but didn't turn around. "Do you remember when we used to come here and play, just the two of us? How you would always pushed the swing for me, and defend me from the bullies? Don't you wish we could have those days return? When we were innocent?"
"...yes," Toryn said quietly, "I long for those times so much. But, they aren't coming back, never, not even if I win a million fights, or even if the people return here. My days of innocence are over, they ended the day I took up the blade to fight. But," Toryn spun around quickly, "Yours are not," He reached up and put his hands on her shoulders, and stared fiercely into her eyes, "You still have a chance, to make those memories return, and I will fight to protect that chance, I will fight to protect you, I will protect you until the day I
die, because you are my sister, and you mean more to me than any other person on this planet," Toryn paused and looked down, he noticed she was wearing the dress he had bought for her a few days before.
"Oh, Toryn," Alice said as tears sprang to her eyes, "I love you, brother," She wrapped her arms around him and buried her face in his shirt. Toryn held her there for almost five minutes, until finally she loosened and looked up at him.
"Thank you..." She said as she wiped the tears from her eyes, "Wait, now I don't even remember why I came out here! Darnit Toryn!"
"Heh, sorry," Toryn said laughing.
"It's so good to see you smile again," Alice said happily.
"Well, the war took more than our family and friends," he said returning to a more serious tone.
"OH! Now I remember, Wes is cooking and he wants to know if you want some food, 'He doesn't eat nearly enough, He'll die of starvation one of these days, the fool'," She said imitating him. They both laughed, and Toryn grabbed Alice's hand and together they walked back to camp.
ooc// Do you think I had
too much drama? Maybe... The issue may be that I'm not good at writing drama... I don't know. I am still trying to get back into RPing and writing, so my posts will only get slowly better, sorry guys and gals.
A scene from Parallel Shadows... which is a total WIP btw...
